the old表示一类人,年纪大的
所有的名词除了不可数的之外都要加冠词或用复数形式，但是charity是不可数的，所以不用加冠词，因为charity不是特定的某一个，所以不同＋the
不加the就是不指明对象的泛指，加the则有限定的意味。
这里的charity是慈善机构，而慈善机构不止一家或者一类，所以不用the，一般用the是特指哪一家，或者是独一无二的时候用the，比如太阳，the sun。 举个例子，go to school，我们都知道是去学校~ 学校不止一家，而去的应该是其中一家，不用加冠词就OK，反而加the的时候，就是说明前面提到了哪家，特指的时候，才用。...
