这个应该这么想：influenced by 和 because 其实是一回事儿
这句话可以写成：Because of continued inflation and loss of faith in the dollar, the price of gold increased(or "has been influenced").
也可以写成：Because people have lost faith in the dollar and the dollar continued inflating, the price of gold has been influenced.
如果我要把上一句的两个the dollar 省略写在一起：continued inflation(of the dollar) and loss of faith in the dollar influenced the price of gold.
再反过来写就是一样的了。要知道英语里面because 和influenced by 其实经常可以表述相同的意思，原则是不管用哪个，表意一定要简洁。
