Dear Mum and Dad:
How are you doing? I am all very well here at school; I have got satisfactory marks for all my exams and have been in good relationships with all my friends. So you don’t have to worry about me.
This letter might seem a little random as I just suddenly had the desire to write to you and talk to you. Since we now have a little period of leisure amid a tight schedule of examinations and studies, I had thought about many things. Looking back at the past two years in senior high school, I have just realised how much you have done for me and how grateful I am.
It were you who had celebrated with me when I got the good marks; it were also you who told me what had gone wrong and encouraged me to go on when my marks were not so good. You were the motivation for me to move on in the tough competition in this school. I would think of your smiles and warm words every time I felt lonely, pressured or depressed. And every time, they gave me courage and hope. You made me grow up and mature into an adult from a child, and for that, I sincerely thank both of you.
Looking ahead, I see a lot of challenges: more stressful exams in school and the challenges in the society I am about to face. I admit that I am scared. But I know that you will always be supporting and encouraging me, and just because of that, I feel filled with courage. I promise that I will be working hard in order to become a useful person in the society. I will not lay to vain your expectation and your efforts.
I hope that all will go well and pleasant for you, my parents. And I thank you once again.
