R:  cds memoir  not accurate.

  1. not wealthy———borrow $
  2. doubt conversation’saccuracy.
  3. not escape ceiling———bribe jailers———manypolitically friend.

L:  accurate.

    1.not poor———party & gambling. 不动产变现期间借钱。

2.write every night———keep manyyears.  witnesses confirm

    3.其他人也有powerful朋友但没逃出去。

      cds逃走后,监狱repair了ceiling.

Thelecturer claims that the Chevalier’s memoir is veryaccurate. This claim isnot in agreement with that of the reading passage, which suggeststhat the memoir of Chevalier are not as the same of his reallife.

First, the lecturer arguesthat Chevalier were not poor because he had lots of parties andgambling. Lots of his wealth are not cash, so Chevalier had toborrow money when he waited the cash reach. Clearly, theprofessor"s argument disproves its counterpart in the reading thatChevalier is not wealthy because there has evidence indicates thatChevalier borrowed money from a merchant.

Second, the speaker discussesChevalier wrote journal every night, and then keep the journal manyyears. There were witnesses confirm, definitely, Chevalier has theconversation with Voltaire. It is contradicting what is stated inthe reading that there has any doubt about the conversation betweenChevalier and Voltaire, because critics think Chevalier was notable to remember the detail of this conversation after so manyyears.

Finally, the speaker raisesthe issue that there were other prisoners who had more powerfulfriends did not left the prison by bribing, and the prison hadrepaired the ceiling of Chevalier’s prison room, which was simplynoted as Chevalier did not escape  from the holeof the ceiling of his prison in the reading.   222
